Maria Constanti, a Cypriot artist based in Berlin, explores the intersections of poetry and performance. She studied Classics and Theory and Practice of Folk Culture in Nicosia and Athens, and Embodied Dramaturgy, Integral Movement and Performance Studies in Berlin. Her Greek-language poetry collection, I lemonia tis Ruth [Ruth’s lemon-tree], was published by Perispomeni Editions in Athens in December 2023 and was shortlisted for the Cyprus State Poetry Award. In May 2023, she co-directed and performed in the award-winning experimental poetry film Both Breath and Clay: Fragments of a Ritual Prayer in collaboration with video artist Marc Samper. Her poem “Inside Gardens” inspired the making of the film.
