Christina Metaxa (Limassol, 1992) studied Creative Writing and French Studies at Brown University in the USA, as well as at the Sorbonne University in France. Today she teaches English, French and Creative writing to children and adults in Cyprus. Her poems and translations have been published in the literary magazines: Synecdochein America, In Focus in Cyprus, and the Aldus Journal of Translation in America, featuring translations of Cypriot poems and lullabies. In 2009, she published her first children’s storybook in Greek, titled “Φιδάκης Αμυαλάκης”(“Snakey No-Brainkey”) and in 2020 poems of hers were included in the Cypriot poetry anthology “Οι νεότεροι: Κύπριοι ποιητές & ποιήτριες • 1981-2001”. In 2021 Metaxa published the chapbook “An honorable woman, letter” in honour of her grandmother. Christina writes in English, French, Greek, as well as in the Cypriot dialect. She is expected to soon release the second book in her series of children’s stories as well as her first novel, Antithetical Sensation. Afloat is her first poetry collection.
