Dimitris Leventis

Dimitris Leventis was born to Cypriot parents in Athens in 1939, and grew up in Cyprus. He studied Greek Philology at the University of Athens and Counselling at the State University of New York at Albany. He taught at the First Gymnasium of Famagusta until the Turkish invasion in 1974. He has also worked for and shaped the Counselling Services in Secondary Education in Cyprus. He has published, in Greek, the books Counselling in Secondary Education (Nicosia: Epiphaniou, 2004), Panos Leventis: Poems, Short Stories, Plays (Nicosia: M. A. Michaelides, 2007; ed.), The Life and Death of Petros Yiallouros (Nicosia: 2009), The Course of the Greek Gymnasiums of Famagusta from 1955 to 1974 (Nicosia: Association of Alumni and Friends of the Greek Gymnasiums of Famagusta, 2013) and Stories of Famagusta (Athens: Iolkos, 2015). For the latter publication he was awarded the National Short Story Prize of the Republic of Cyprus.
